Why Puget Sound Youth Are Waiting, and How You Can Help

January is National Mentoring Month, a time to celebrate the life-changing power of mentorship, and to take action where it’s needed most.

Right now, hundreds of young people across Puget Sound are waiting for a mentor. They’re waiting for someone to show up consistently, listen, and believe in them. One caring adult can make a lasting difference in how a young person sees themselves and their future, but only if our community steps forward.

This month, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound is calling urgent attention to a growing mentor shortage and inviting adults across King and Pierce counties to be part of the solution. Through our Be The Reason initiative, mentors, staff, board members, alumni, donors, and community partners are sharing why they chose to get involved — and why mentorship matters now more than ever.

We invite you to read our full press release to learn more about the mentor shortage, the impact of mentorship, and how you can take the first step toward changing a young person’s life.
