VOLUNTEER

FOR OUR PROGRAMS

We offer three key types of mentoring programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of the youth in our community: community-based, site-based, and group mentoring.

We have developed each of our programs with clear goals in mind, whether it’s providing additional support to youth experiencing foster care in our community-based program, or group mentoring for young men involved with the judicial system to reduce recidivism and prevent future violence. In all of our programs, we are committed to creating a supportive, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all participants. We take great care in matching Bigs and Littles based on shared interests, personalities, and goals to ensure a strong and meaningful connection.

Additionally, our professional staff provides ongoing support and training to ensure the success and safety of each match in every program.

Our Programs

Our results show that mentoring is a viable solution for improving outcomes for young people, particularly in the areas of mental health and scholastic achievement. Youth mental health concerns have reached unprecedented crisis levels, but young people in our programs show strong outcomes.

Community-Based
Mentoring

In this traditional program, Bigs and Littles meet regularly to share experiences, explore interests, and develop a lasting bond. Activities might include anything from going to a museum or playing sports to simply enjoying a conversation over ice cream.

Site-Based
Mentoring

These programs connect Bigs and Littles in a structured environment, such as schools or workplace partners’ offices. Sessions are typically held weekly or monthly and focus on academic support, social-emotional skill-building activities, and fostering a positive, encouraging relationship.

Group
Mentoring

Group mentoring programs assign each Big to mentor a small group of Littles, providing a unique dynamic that encourages peer support and collaboration. These programs often include activities like team sports, workshops, and group outings.

Bigs are mentors who help Littles see their own potential. Bigs are safe, consistent adults in young people’s lives who are outside of the family unit. They come from diverse backgrounds, bringing unique perspectives and experiences that enrich the mentoring relationship. Despite their busy lives, they prioritize their commitment to their Littles, often forming bonds that last well beyond the program.
