We’re honored to share that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound was recently featured on FOX 13 Seattle, highlighting the urgent need for mentors across our region and the powerful role mentorship plays in supporting young people.
Right now, more than 700 children across King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties are waiting for a mentor. Even more concerning, 60% of that unmet need is for boys of color, young people who are waiting for a consistent, caring adult to show up for them.
Mentorship as an answer to the youth loneliness epidemic

One of the biggest misconceptions about mentoring is the time commitment. As highlighted in the FOX 13 story, mentors with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound typically spend just 2–4 hours a month with their mentee.
