OTHER WAYS TO GIVE

Every gift to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound makes a BIG difference. Below are just some of the ways you can give.

YOUR GIFT CREATES AND SUPPORTS MENTORSHIPS THAT IGNITE THE POWER AND PROMISE OF YOUTH.

IRA Transfer Gifts

Individuals aged 70½ and older to transfer up to $100,000 per year directly from an IRA to nonprofit organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound without triggering a federal income tax.  This counts toward satisfying the individual’s required minimum distribution for that year and doesn’t count as income!  For more information, please contact us at giving@bbbsps.org or 206.456.9809.

Gifts from a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)

A donor-advised fund, or DAF, is a charitable giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to support your favorite causes. If you currently have a DAF, we encourage you to recommend a gift to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound. For more information, please contact us at giving@bbbsps.org or 206.456.9809.

Gifts in Honor of a Loved One

What better way to honor a loved one who loves Big Brothers Big Sisters than by helping more kids get the mentor they’ve been waiting for!?! A tribute gift is a meaningful way to convey sympathy to the bereaved, memorialize a loved one, commemorate a special occasion or honor a person’s life and accomplishments. Complete the “Tribute Gift” information on our online giving form or give us a call to make arrangements at 206.456.9809 .

Matching Gifts

Many companies in the Puget Sound area match their employees’ gifts to charitable institutions. Just think, the impact of your gift to Big Brothers Big Sisters may be doubled or possibly tripled! Don’t leave money on the table. Ask the human resources or benefits office at your workplace for more information.

Dollars for Volunteering

If you are a Big Brother, Big Sister, or Big Sibling who works for a company such as Microsoft, Washington Mutual, AT&T, or Starbucks, your employer will give a cash donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters for the hours you spend volunteering. This is a tremendous opportunity for you to double your support of youth mentoring. Ask the human resources or benefits office at your workplace for more information.

Workplace Giving

By making a gift through your company’s Workplace Giving Campaign, you can help change the lives of children waiting to be matched with caring adult mentors. We are registered with most companies, but please contact giving@bbbsps.org if you need assistance.

Corporate Giving

We couldn’t do this work without our corporate partnerships. They provide valuable grants, in-kind donations, employee matches, and volunteers. We welcome the opportunity to talk with corporations about our work and possible collaboration opportunities that demonstrate a commitment to helping local kids facing adversity. Email partnership@bbbsps.org for more info.
