Care in Action: Strengthening Our Community Through Mentorship

February reminds us that strong communities are built on care, commitment, and connection.

Care looks like showing up consistently.
Care looks like listening without judgment.
Care looks like one generation investing in the next.

Mentorship is not about grand gestures. It’s about steady support, encouragement, and belief.

What Care Really Means in Mentorship

For our Bigs, care means commitment.

“Being a Big has reminded me how powerful consistency is. Just showing up and listening makes a difference.” – BBBSPS Big

For our Littles, care often means feeling heard and supported.

“My Big helps me think through things. I feel more confident after we talk.” – BBBSPS Little

Mentorship is built on trust, encouragement, and appropriate boundaries. It’s a professional, structured relationship designed to help young people grow, academically, socially, and emotionally.

Generation Supporting Generation

When adults invest time and energy into youth, the impact extends far beyond one match.

A mentor helps a Little set goals.
A Little builds confidence.
Confidence becomes leadership.
Leadership strengthens our schools and neighborhoods.

This is how communities grow stronger, through guidance, accountability, and belief in young people’s potential. Across King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties, we see this every day: improved decision-making, stronger social-emotional skills, and clearer visions for the future.

This February, Turn Care Into Action

Right now, hundreds of young people across Puget Sound are waiting for a mentor.

You can strengthen our community in two ways:

  • Become a Mentor

Give a few hours each month to provide guidance, encouragement, and stability for a young person who needs it: InspireBig.org/Become-a-big

  • Donate Today
