Gena Divine named Chief Development Officer

Monique Dubose named Regional Director of Tacoma, Pierce, Kitsap

Gena Divine is an experienced leader who will help identify critical resources to support youth mentoring

After an extensive search, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound has named Gena Divine as Chief Development Officer. Gena has nearly 20 years of experience in non-profit fundraising and marketing. Her strategic mindset and focus on expanding partnerships have strengthened communities and amplified impact.

Most recently, Gena served as Vice President of Development and Marketing at Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson in the Los Angeles region. Her leadership there was instrumental in growing corporate partnerships, increasing grant revenue, and deepening the Board of Directors’ philanthropic impact. Her earlier work as Director of Development at EXP, formerly International Trade Education Programs, included spearheading the organization’s five-year strategic planning, implementation of a complete rebrand, and securing the largest corporate and individual donations in the organization’s history.

A lifelong volunteer, Gena began her professional career in the non-profit sector after college at Florida State University as the first full-time employee at Jewish World Watch, growing her skills in community relations and event-planning at a Planned Parenthood affiliate, and coordinating a capital campaign at a Los Angeles synagogue. A two-year stint as an entrepreneur in the baking industry further honed her expertise in project management and community engagement.

“I’m so glad to join Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound at this crucial moment in time.” said Gena. “The pandemic has shown us that mentorship has a powerful positive impact on children’s mental health and inspired new opportunities for young people to connect with supportive role models in their communities. I’m looking forward to strengthening and expanding connections in the region to bring these transformational experiences to more youth.”

Alonda Williams, President and CEO of BBBSPS, had this to say about the new leader. “Gena is the development leader we need to elevate our engagement with donors and the philanthropic community and we are so lucky to have her. I’m excited about her desire help empower young people and to connect with our community in new ways.”

Gena attributes much of her success to the impact of mentors who helped her embrace opportunities and confidently navigate challenges. She’s excited to do the same for the philanthropy team at BBBSPS. An enthusiastic new resident of Washington State, she looks forward to experiencing everything the beautiful state has to offer.
